Movies in May" is an Independent Film Festival celebrating local talent and featuring films and film-related events created by students and residents from the surrounding community. It is jointly sponsored by the Fanwood Memorial Library, the Scotch Plains Public Library, The Friends groups of both libraries, Bill McMeekan and the Scotch Plains-Fanwood School District. Festival events will be presented at both libraries and the High School and will feature three fantastic days of film screenings for movie makers and movie lovers!
The Festival begins Thursday evening with films starting at 7:00 p.m. at the High School. The winner of the LIBRARY PSA Contest will be announced before the films begin. Screenings begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night at the Fanwood Memorial Library, and this year's festival concludes with a final session on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Scotch Plains Public Library. Film makers will be available at each session to introduce their offering and take questions.
Besides this years film offerings, the Festival is very excited to be sponsoring a LIBRARY Public Service Announcement Contest to find the best PSA to help celebrate and publicize the joint partnership of the Fanwood Memorial Library and the Scotch Plains Public Library.
